1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the privacy practices of Lucky Cats Rescue (“LCR”, “us”, “we”, or “our”) and how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information we obtain from foster and adoption applicants, volunteers, donors, and individuals who interact with or use our website, including our online shop, or sign up to receive news and other information from us (collectively, our “Services”). This Policy also tells you about your rights and choices with respect to your personal information, and how you can contact us if you have any questions or concerns. 

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information.  

Information you provide to us

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and other contact details.

  • Adoption, foster and volunteer application materials, including information about your experience with pets, other members of your household, living conditions, volunteer and work experience, and adoption or foster preferences and interests.

  • Donations, purchases and payments, such as the amount of your donations, your purchases from our online shop, and payment details. Please note that your payment details, including your credit card or bank account numbers, in connection with a donation or transaction via our store, are collected and processed by our payment service providers, Square and Shopify Payments, and we do not store your payment card information.

  • Correspondence and other communications with us, such as information you provide via a contact form on our website, by email, via social media or by other means.

  • Marketing information, such as your choices for receiving communications about our activities and publications. 

Automatic Data Collection

We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with our Services, such as:

  • Device data, such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system, manufacturer and model, browser type, IP address, unique identifiers, language settings, mobile device carrier, and general location information such as city, state or geographic area.

  • Usage data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, browsing history, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, and duration of access, and whether you have opened our marketing emails or clicked links within them.

We may collect this information using cookies and other similar technologies. Cookies, which are text files that websites store on a visitor‘s device to uniquely identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser for the purpose of helping you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, enabling functionality, helping us understand user activity and patterns, and facilitating online advertising.

 

3. How we use personal information

We will use personal information for one or more of the purposes set out below.

  • Providing our Services to you, including to evaluate your adoption or foster application, manage our volunteer network, process your donation and purchase orders, and operate and maintain our website, social media profiles and online store. 

  • Communicating with you, including to contact you about your application, schedule appointments, provide transaction or donation receipts, send you announcements, updates, support and administrative messages, and resolve any queries you may have. 

  • Sending you newsletters and other marketing emails, including information about our activities, fundraising drives, and special promotions. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time as instructed within the relevant emails. 

  • Analytics and interest-based advertising. We engage our analytics and advertising partners, including third party advertising companies and social media companies, to help us analyze traffic on our website and display ads around the web using cookies and similar technologies. 

  • Improving or monitoring usage of our Services and protecting, investigating and deterring against fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized or illegal activity. This includes: monitoring and analyzing trends and use of our Services; personalizing your use of the Services and our communications; conducting troubleshooting, testing and research; and enforcing any applicable terms and conditions, complying with legal obligations and defending against legal claims or disputes. 

4. How we share personal information

We share personal information with the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers: We rely on vendors and service providers for the provision of our Services and for the purposes set out above, such as providers of website analytics, e-commerce platforms, and customer support services in addition to other administrative services. 

  • Advertising partners: We may share your personal information with third party advertising companies, including for the interest-based advertising purposes described above.

  • Advisors: we work with various advisors, including tax consultants and legal advisors, with whom we may share your personal information.

  • Legal: information about our users, including personal information, will be disclosed to law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, public authorities or pursuant to the exercise of legal proceedings if we are legally required to do so, or if we believe, in good faith, that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or request, to enforce our terms and conditions, to prevent or resolve security or technical issues, or to protect the rights, property or safety of LCR, Members, Candidates, a third party, or the public.

6.  Your rights and choices

Opt out of marketing emails.      You may opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in any marketing email we send you. Please note, however, that you may continue to receive transactional communications as described in the “Communicating with you” section above after opting out of marketing communications.

Contact us. If you have questions about we handle your personal information or if you believe your information is inaccurate or has been collected in error, please contact us as provided in the ‘Contact Us’ section below and we will endeavor to resolve your questions or concerns.

Online tracking opt-out. There are a number of ways to opt out of having your online activity and device data collected through our Services, which we have summarized below:

Note that because these opt-out mechanisms are specific to the device or browser on which they are exercised, you will need to opt out on every browser and device that you use.

7. Children’s privacy

Our Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us as set out in the “Contact Us” section below. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

We will update this Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
